Bernard Malamud was born on April 25, 1914. Malamud was an American author of novels and short stories. He has won the Pulitzer Prize and had his books dramatised as films with Robert Redford playing the lead role in The Natural. Bernard Malamud died on March 18.1986. Malamud had been brought up as a Jew. After his marriage to Ann De Chiara in 1945, at the displeasure of both their parents, Malamud thought of himself as an agnostic humanist.
