Neil Sheehan
Neil Sheehan is a journalist with the New York Times since 1971. He was born on October 27, 1936, Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States. Sheehan was educated in Mount Hermon School and graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in history in 1958. Sheehan spent time in Vietnam on a number of occasions as a reporter and so became familiar with the politics of the country. Having returned to the U.S. in the Autumn of 1966 he became the Pentagon Correspondent for the New York Times and in 1971 he obtained the Pentagon Papers which he was to publish from. The Government tried to prevent this but lost the case in the Supreme Court. The New York Times received a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
