Anne McCaffrey (1926 - 2011) Anne McCaffrey was a prolific fantasy writer after she took up writing full time in 1965. Anne was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, but she emigrated to Ireland in 1970. She had filed for divorce and brought her two youngest sons with her. At this time Ireland had exempted resident artists from tax. Harry Harrison also came to Ireland. Dragonflight is the first book in the series Dragonriders of Pern. possibly her most famous work. Anne McCaffrey died in November 2011 at her home in Ireland. Nerilka's Story and The Coelura features two Pern novellas in one volume. Acorna's People is the third volume in the Acorna series of fantasy novels, which Anne McCaffrey co-wrote with Elizabeth Ann Scarborough.
