Bryan MacMahon was born in Listowel, Ireland on September 29, 1909. He died 0n February 13, 1998. MacMahon wrote plays, short stories and novels. MacMahon was very involved with the Listowel Writers. He was a teacher who would encourage young writers just like Frank O'Connor and Sean O'Faolain had encouraged him. The Master is Bryan's autobiography. In 1972 Bryan McMahon was awarded the LL.D. by the National University of Ireland for his services to Irish writing.
