Janet was born in Brentford, Middlesex, England on December 27, 1946.This was just after the end of the Second World War.
Her family were poor, her parents being working class.
Fulham and Perivale were the places of her youth.
After spending two years at Architectural college she decided to drop out and find media work.
Her rise was steady after a brief stint in a girls magazine called Petticoat.She went to the Daily Mali in 1969.
Moving on to the Evening Standard in 1971 where she was fashion editor.She also co-presented a radio show on LBC with Paul Callan.
In 1975 Janet went into TV with LWT.Various reporting jobs later she started producing shows.
In 1996 she set up her own production company.She has recently become a regular on the day-time chat show Loose Women.
Fall Out is Janet's second autobiographical book.
