John Grisham was born on February 8, 1955. Grisham is a lawyer, politician and author. His fame comes mainly from his courtroom set thrillers. John Grisham rose to fame with the publication of 'The Firm' a novel about Mafia involvement in corporate legal firms. The novel was adapted for film and stared Tom Cruise in the main role, guaranteeing its success. 'A Time to Kill' was reissued to a hungry audience who had not seen this kind of psychological thriller before. This is because it combined the verbal combat in the courtroom with the suspense of criminal activity around the case. Courtroom dramas had been done before, but not with such fervour and realism as John Grisham was doing now. John Grisham's books are about the struggle between right and wrong. Moreover, about the struggle of the ordinary person against the rich and powerful. In The Client two children witness a crime and are drawn into a terrifying scenario which threatens their very lives. This theme runs throughout Grisham's books.Good versus evil. The weak versus the Mighty. With a hard at heels lawyer ready to take up an almost unwinnable case. This might seem predictable, but it is to Grisham's immense credit that each time he pulls it off and makes the stories credible, enjoyable and entertaining.
