Stieg Larsson was a Swedish author renowned for his Millennium trilogy about the adventures of a punk computer hacker. Larsson was more than that. Larsson founded the Swedish Expo Foundation, an organisation committed to exposing right-wing activity in Sweden. Larsson became the editor of Expo, their paper, in 1995. Beyond this, Larsson would spend his own time researching right wing groups in an effort to make the public more aware of their existence and of what they were up to. Larsson had received many death threats. Larsson died in 2004 from a heart attack while rushing to his office. His books were not to reach the heights of popularity until 2008, when The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was first published in English
