Terry Pratchett was born on April 28, 1948 and died on March 12, 2015. Pratchett was one of the most popular authors in print. His Discworld series has sold over 70 million copies, and they are treasured by his loyal army of fans. It is rare for a science fiction writer to transcend so many barriers as Terry Pratchett did and does. It is hard to think of another writer of any genre who managed to do so as well as Terry Pratchett does. While other authors have achieved great popularity for their writings, Terry Pratchett goes well beyond this. It is the man himself who is popular. And this is because of his humour and the fact that he invests so much of himself in his writing. His optimism is like a beacon. Even after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease he continued to write, he continued to give. Its not as if he needs the money. Sadly, Terry Pratchett lost his battle with Alzheimer's on March 12th, 2015. He died with his family beside him and his cat on the bed. The Colour of Magic is the first Discworld novel.
