Walter Macken was born on May 3, 1915 and died on April 22, 1967. He shared his career between acting and writing. Macken wrote short stories, novels and plays. Macken acted mainly in Galway and The Abbey Theatre, but he did appear in Broadway in M J Molloy's The King of Friday. Macken decided to concentrate on writing after the success of his novel 'The Bogman'.
