Jeffrey Archer was born in London, England in April 15, 1940. Archer has sold over 250 million books. He was a member of Parliament but had to resign after a scandal. He concentrated on his writing and produced top selling books over a period of ten years. Archer became chairman of the Conservative Party before he had to resign because of another scandal. This time a custodial sentence ensued. After spending two years in prison Archer continued writing. First Among Equals was published in the time when he was the Conservative Party Chairman and in one the high points of his life.
