Osteen studied radio and television communications at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Osteen used his training when he founded Lakewood's television programme.

He continued to produce his father's sermons for 17 years, until his father's death.

Osteen took over his father's ministry and has not looked back since.
