Julian Barnes was born on January 19, 1946. Julian Barnes has won the Man Booker Prize for The Sense of an Ending (2011). Barnes has also been shortlisted for Falubert's Parrott (1984), England, England (1998) and Arthur and George (2005). Julian Barnes is a keen Francophile and has written books and essays featuring France, starting with his debut novel, Metroland (1980) about a young man who sojourns in Paris to 'find himself'.
