Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, on July 23, 1944, Lisa Alther attended public schools. She graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in English Literature in 1966. Before her breakthrough with 'Kinflicks'. Lisa had completed two novels and very many short stories. Original Sins is her second novel, published in 1981. It is the story of a group of children who grow up and find that they have changed almost beyond recognition. Lisa took time out from writing to bring up her daughter. But she has returned to writing with a new novel in 2011, 'Washed in the Blood'. There is also a collection of short stories in 2012.'Stormy Weather and Other Stories'.
