Phyllis Ryan was born on July 27th, 1920 and died on June 6th, 2011. Phyllis Ryan was a champion of independent theatre in Ireland.She nurtured playwrights like John B Keane and Brien Friel in their early careers. Her theatre company, Gemini Productions produced the best plays outside of the Abbey Theatre in the 1960's and 1970's. The Company I Kept is Phyllis Ryan's own memoirs on her illustrious career in theatre in Ireland.
