Robert M Pirsig was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, on September 6, 1928. He died on April 24, 2017 in South Berwick, Maine, USA.Pirsig was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in the early 1960s. Writing Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was his way to deal with the rauma of the infliction and its subsequent processes such as electrc shock treatment.
