Sylvia Plath was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 27, 1932. She died on February 11, 1963. Plath was married to the English poet, Ted Hughes and had two children, Freida and Nicholas, with him. Ted Hughes left Sylvia for another woman and Sylvia fell into depression. Her debut and only novel The Bell Jar describes the breakdown she suffered at this time. Plath was a poet and an author of fiction and short stories.
