Tom Sharpe was an English novelist whose main theme was satire. Sharpe was born in Holloway, London, United Kingdom on March 30, 1928. He died in Llafranc, Spain on June 6, 2013. He is remembered for his Wilt series of humorous books and for Blott On the Landscape and Porterhouse Blue, both of which were adapted for television. Grantchester Grind is the follow-up novel to Porterhouse Blue.
