William Boyd was born on March 7, 1952. Boyd is a novelist, a short story writer and a screenwriter. Awards include The Man Booker Prize Best Novel nominee (1982) : An Ice-Cream War, James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction Best Book winner (1990) : Brazzaville Beach. Blue Afternoon won the 1993 Sunday Express Book of the Year Award.
