Patrick White was born in Knightsbridge, London, on May 28, 1912, but moved to Australia with his family when was six months old. White was the first Australian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1973. He has also a recipient of the Miles Franklin Award. Patrick White died on September 30, 1990 in Sydney, Australia. A Fringe of Leaves is a novel from 1976.
